We know there's a beta for Respawn Entertainment's upcoming multiplayer shooter Titanfall in the works for Xbox One and PC (sorry Xbox 360 owners!), but how can you get in?

Cofounder Vince Zampella said today on Twitter that the beta is not "open," and access will be granted through special codes. Unfortunately, he didn't share any information regarding how you can get one, and we haven't heard back from Respawn's official press team.

Separately, Respawn community manager Abbie Heppe confirmed that Titanfall beta access won't require that you preorder the game. "It's not tied to preorder, we'll let you know how to sign up soon," she said.

Whatever the case, Zampella said Respawn wants to get "as as many people in as possible" to the beta. And to that end, codes--which are not region-locked--will be distributed in waves, he said. Rumor has it that the beta will begin on February 14--Valentine's Day, though that's not confirmed.

We're likely to learn a start-date for the Titanfall beta soon, as Zampella said last night that once the build passes certification then Respawn can share more details. Titanfall officially launches on March 11. The PC version will require Origin.

Titanfall is one of 2014's most-anticipated games and is coming exclusively to Xbox One, Xbox 360, and PC thanks to an exclusive arrangement between Electronic Arts and Microsoft. The game was built by numerous former Call of Duty developers, including Zampella, who cofounded prolific Call of Duty studio Infinity Ward.

Microsoft announced a limited-run Titanfall Xbox One controller last month, and a special Xbox One console featuring Titanfall imagery is rumored to be in the works. If you are thinking about preordering Titanfall but aren't sure which store to purchase from, we did a quick write-up on every available Titanfall pre-order bonus to help you decide.
