The Acclaim name was brought back from oblivion last year, and it seems parts of its catalog are also returning to the limelight. The rights to hundreds of the publisher's games went up for auction late last year, and it appears Throwback Entertainment scooped up a few of the highest-profile franchises on offer. The Toronto-based publisher today announced that it has acquired the rights to a number of the defunct publisher's recognizable titles, including Vexx and XGRA: Extreme-G Racing Association.

"We are very pleased to have been afforded the opportunity to take these titles through the next generation, and onwards," the company said in a statement. "Many of the titles have all the elements required to establish franchises, with new services broadening the reach of games, Throwback will be well positioned for the expansion of the franchises."

The list of Acclaim titles Throwback now owns the rights to includes:

Aggressive Inline
Extreme-G Racing
Extreme-G 2
Extreme-G 3
Fur Fighters
Fur Fighters: Viggo's Revenge
Gladiator: Sword of Vengeance
Iggy's Reckin' Balls
Legends of Wrestling
Legends of Wrestling 2
Re-Volt
Showdown: Legends of Wrestling
Summer Heat Volleyball
SX Superstar
Vexx
XGRA: Extreme-G Racing Association
