Three Years and No Announcements Later, Bethesda Still Working on Mysterious "Starfield"

New trademark application mentions mobile games.

Three years ago this month, Bethesda parent company ZeniMax filed a trademark application for something called "Starfield." No announcements, or even teases of announcements, have been made regarding what this might be. However, it looks like ZeniMax continues to be interested in bringing it to market, or at least protecting its ability to.

On April 11, ZeniMax filed a new trademark application for Starfield with the United States Patent & Trademark Office. This is in fact the fourth trademark ZeniMax holds for Starfield. While the other three cover things like computer and console games, as well as t-shirts, this one specifically mentions mobile games. This doesn't necessarily mean Starfield is a mobile game, only that it could be.

Bethesda recently opened an office in Canada that will work on mobile games, as well as projects for console and PC. Additionally, Bethesda's Todd Howard recently pledged that the studio will make more mobile games in the future, following the success of its first one, Fallout Shelter. Bethesda's next mobile game is The Elder Scrolls Legends, which is coming later this year to mobile devices and PC.

GameSpot has contacted Bethesda in an attempt to get more details on its plans for Starfield. We will update this post with anything we hear back or if other developments come to light.

How much money do you wanna bet it's an open world game?

Once you get a taste of that sweet mobile market with it's high margins and fast money, it's hard to forget, you will crave it, you may come to "resent its absence" too :).

Just like their Hearthstone clone is MIA with no news or release date. Bethesda is not exactly a reliable developer outside of the two games they make every 4 years.

Watch this is a repurposed Prey 2, you play as a galactic bounty hunter in a sci-fi FPR set across multiple planets doing missions for people and collecting bounties on criminal scum......

I'd dig it.....just switch over to Idtech 6 though.....that Creation Engine is getting old as crap......

Probably just a first-person game where they use the same old engine with few updates that doesn't belong in 2016 and beyond.
