Now Playing: Red Faction: Armageddon - Fun With Magnets Gameplay Movie

It's continued to be a slow stretch for new additions to the Xbox One's backwards compatibility library. That drought has ended for at least one day, as three more Xbox 360 games are now playable on Xbox One, including one that you may soon receive for free.

Red Faction: Armageddon headlines the list of new backwards compatible games. It's the most recent entry in the Red Faction series and features some elements of the destruction that made earlier Red Faction games so popular. If you don't already own the game, you'll soon get your hands on a free digital copy if you subscribe to Xbox Live Gold, as it will be offered as a Games With Gold title during the first half of August.

The other two new backwards compatible games are a pair of arcade-style shooters: Gyruss and Raiden IV. The former is an old Konami arcade game, while Raiden IV is a more modern title, having originally been released in arcades in 2007.

As with all backwards compatibility games, digital copies you own will show up on your Xbox One's Ready to Download list, while physical copies can be popped into the disc drive. At some point in the future, you'll also be able to play original Xbox games on your Xbox One. You can check out all of the current Xbox One backwards compatible games here.

Really want and have been waiting for COD MW2 and Metal Gear Rising:Revengeance. Started another play through of Red Dead Redemption and I'm quite surprised how good it still plays. Such an atmospheric game. Can't wait for 2.

I've never played Red Faction Armageddon, only played Guerrilla a little bit. Wasn't all that impressed. I'm really hoping that Crackdown 3 nails the 100% destruction in multiplayer.

For anyone who thinks that the destruction was also meant to be in single player?

Never did the developers say that it would be in the single player campaign. For the record they've always maintained that it was multiplayer only so all you ponies out there don't try and bring the game down with that excuse.

Anyway keep them coming Microsoft the more games the better.🎮✌️

Still waiting for Ninja Gaiden(s), Castlevania:Lords of Shadow(s), Prince of Persia('08, Forgotten Sands), all CAVE shmups...

Wow did you actually say something negative about sony playstation?

Wonders never cease😜

Mind you there was a dig at Xbox as per usual.🎮✌️

@hotwog21: ur an idiot

I clicked the link in the article to see the Games with Gold for August and was taken to last year's article. You might want to fix that.

I was super happy to find Radiant Silvergun had been added. Not sure how I missed it, but very happy it's finally there. I think that just leaves Bangai-O missile fury as the last Treasure game needing BC.

Red Faction: Armageddon one of the worst games I've played. No good story and very repetitive gameplay. You just keep doing the same thing over and over again

If you plan to play this boring game then just get on PC. Even low-end gaming PC nowadays will run it better than xbox 360

There was an article about the new ATI's graphic card just a few days ago, and people in the comment are already arguing over which $500+ card is better, which gives less problems, crashes and bloatwares...

Why trouble yourself?

11m MAU on steam? Cost isn't the ONLY factor.

Avatar image for gamerbum

It's BC on the X1 which normally runs the games better than when they were on 360. Just saying.

Avatar image for sealionact

@rabih55555: You really are desperate to get some more people coming back to pc aren't you?

Sorry, it's just not happening.

Come on gamestop, slow stretch? 400 games in a years time. Stop being playstation butt buddies.

Avatar image for gamerbum

Yeah I thought the same thing when reading this article. Another Xbox article from Gamespot that seems to have a negative spin. Site should be called ponyspot.😃🎮✌️

Avatar image for kanerobot

A "slow stretch" where they just released Street Fighter IV Arcade Edition. Dumb opening line.

Avatar image for Attitude2000

@kanerobot: I think they are referring to the number of games, not how popular each individual title is.

Avatar image for Zorlac

@Attitude2000: There's almost 400 games in the program in less than a year. Again, dumb opening line.

Avatar image for bdrtfm

Why does every Xbox article always have to have a slight negative twist to it? Why couldn't you just announce the new games without the unnecessary bit about there being a slow stretch and a drought in games? MS doesn't have to do this so complaining about a drought is ridiculous. And did you ever stop to think the reason there might be a drought is because their Engineers are working on b/c Original Xbox games and/or enhancing games for the Xbox One X? There's almost 390 360 games available for Xbox One so, if they add anymore at all from here on in, each one should be considered a welcome bonus.

It's nice to see some like minded people on this site who, like me, see the same negative spin on Xbox articles that I do.

Always seems to be flooded with sony fanboys.

It's not just Gamespot either. IGN are guilty of this too quite a lot and don't get me started on euro/ponygamer.

There's definitely a lot of bias in the gaming media. Quite unprofessional and well, a bit sad.🎮✌️

@bdrtfm: because the games that are being chosen tend to be less than perfect while we are waiting for such gems as tales of vesperia etc.

Avatar image for darthrevenx

why'd they wanna add the game that killed Red Faction??? RFG was fracking badass, one of the most fun open ended games Volition made and they ruined it in Armageddon...I wouldn't touch that turd with a 10 meter cattle prod even if it was free.....

IDK with the Fable Fallout and Mass Effect games on the program that's really all i'd want from last gen......the rest would depend on what they offer with old XBOX.....if they do Timesplitters 2 at least I'm sold.....and i'd probably just say F it and get a X1 for the BC games.....maybe get the latest forza and be done with it lolz

Can I please have Splinter Cell Pandora Tomorrow! Pls! With online support. I mean Kane and Lynch 2 online community is active. Im sure Splinter Cell would do just fine. Great online with that one.

Avatar image for rabih55555

Just buy Pandora Tomorrow on PC (the best version). It is an ancient game now

@7tizz: I'll have to think about it some more, but there's a very good chance I'll end up agreeing with you. One of the best parts of it on home consoles: since the original arcade game used an actual joystick, the home port doesn't suffer from control issues like "Tempest," the other famous "enemies come from the middle as you spin around" game.

Avatar image for Gary_Stanton

@7tizz: Better that Metal Gear Solid? Better than Symphony of the Night? Haha I don't think so, but whatever.

Avatar image for biggamerdude

@7tizz: I think konami was at their best in the late 90s, and spiralled off into the 2000s.

My favorite game from them was MGS3, it would be fucking great if they made the mgs collection to xb1.

Avatar image for darthrevenx

@7tizz: Castlevania: Symphony of The Night best Castlevania game made......ugh there's a XBLA version available....

Avatar image for romeothebeast

Where's Fight Night?

Avatar image for superklyph

The people need NFL Blitz.

Avatar image for jlj905

@superklyph: that would be awesome but its probably not gonna happen since EA has the NFL license. Thats also why I'll never get NFL2K games

Avatar image for superklyph

@jlj905: EA made the last NFL Blitz game.
