THQ Wireless is running the option when it comes to pro football this year. In addition to the company's latest simulation, NFL Football 2006, mobile users who come down with a case of pigskin fever will also be able to get their fix with an arcade-style NFL Skills Challenge game, 16 new player ringtones, and official wallpapers for their favorite teams and star players.

NFL Football 2006 offers full 11-on-11 gridiron action with features like full season play, player stat tracking, and downloadable roster updates, while NFL Skills Challenge puts players in the cleats of NFL stars as they compete in one-button passing, rushing, receiving, and kicking games.

The expanded list of ringtones recorded by NFL players includes Champ Bailey of the Denver Broncos, Tiki Barber of the New York Giants, Curtis Martin of the New York Jets, Marvin Harrison of the Indianapolis Colts, Andre Johnson of the Houston Texans, Antonio Gates of the San Diego Chargers, Ahman Green of the Green Bay Packers, Hines Ward of the Pittsburgh Steelers, Jason Taylor of the Miami Dolphins, Jason Witten of the Dallas Cowboys, Javon Walker of the Green Bay Packers, Joe Horn of the New Orleans Saints, La'Roi Glover of the Dallas Cowboys, Muhsin Muhammed of the Chicago Bears, Ronde Barber of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, and Takeo Spikes of the Buffalo Bills.

Most of these offerings will launch on major carriers around the start of the football season (the first regular season game kicks off September 8), with the NFL Skills Challenge to follow in October. For more on NFL Football 2006, check out GameSpot's hands-on impressions.
