THQ to distribute Capcom titles down under
Street Fighter IV and Resident Evil 5 now have an Aussie distributor.
With the announcement of distributor Red Ant's financial troubles just weeks out from the Australian release of Street Fighter IV and Resident Evil 5, many Aussie gamers were starting to get concerned that a delay was afoot. Red Ant was the local distributor for Capcom and Konami, among others. And though Konami had already announced a new distribution partnership with Atari, there was no word on which company Capcom would rely on to get its games shipped around Australia. Well, fear no more. In a press release put out by Capcom's Europe office, as of this morning THQ Asia Pacific is the official sole distributor for Capcom in Australia and New Zealand, effective immediately.
Under this agreement, THQ's Aussie arm will be responsible for all aspects of distribution, marketing, and sales of Capcom titles in the A&NZ nations.
The first titles to be distributed by THQ will be Street Fighter IV and Dead Rising: Chop Til You Drop on the 19th and 26th of February, respectively, and Resident Evil 5 on the 12th of March. MotoGP and Neopets Puzzle Adventure are yet to be dated. Stay tuned for our Street Fighter IV review.
