THQ spills 50 Cent: Blood on the Sand

Australian ratings board lists SmackDown publisher as bringing ex-Vivendi action game down under.

50 Cent is apparently rolling with a new unit. The bullet-riddled rap star was set to make his sophomore gaming appearance in Vivendi Games' 50 Cent: Blood on the Sand until the publisher merged with Activision and dropped the project (among numerous others) earlier this year. But just as sure as one can't keep a good monetary denomination down, 50 Cent: Blood on the Sand appears to be making a comeback.

The Australian Classification Board has posted an MA 15+ (unsuitable for those under 15) rating for Blood on the Sand on multiple platforms, and it's listing THQ as the game's publisher. An inquiry sent to THQ representatives to confirm the information had not drawn a response as of press time.

Developed by Swordfish Studios (Cold Winter), Blood on the Sand takes a cue from Gears of War with its cooperative two-player action and intermittent vehicular mayhem. In the game, 50 Cent is accompanied by members of his G-Unit crew as he picks a firefight with international criminals.

No revised release-date information has been made available for Blood on the Sand. Vivendi had originally planned to release the game on the PlayStation 3 and the Xbox 360 this fall.
