A TV show adaptation of What We Do in the Shadows is reportedly moving ahead. FX has ordered a pilot to be produced, with the key talent behind the film of the same name on board.

According to Variety, FX has committed to producing a pilot. Both Taika Waititi and Jemaine Clement will serve as executive producers after writing, directing, and starring in the 2014 film. Additionally, Waititi (who recently directed Thor: Ragnarok) will act as director, while Clement will write the show. Kayvan Novak, Matt Berry, Natasia Demetriou, and Harvey Guillen will all star in the series, which Variety says will take the form of a half-hour comedy.

Unfortunately, there are no details on what the show version will be about. However, when he spoke about the long-rumored project last year, Waititi suggested that an idea was to essentially do a TV show version of the film but set it in the United States. The original film took the form of a mockumentary about four vampires who live in Australia.

There's no guarantee the as-yet untitled TV series will be picked up for anything more than a pilot, but the movie was certainly acclaimed. Regardless of what happens, there's also a spin-off film sequel called We're Wolves in the works that centers around werewolves from the film. Additionally, a spin-off show based on police officers from the movie is also on the way in New Zealand, reportedly under the title Wellington Paranormal.
