This Week's Free Game At Epic Is Available Now

The Epic Games Store's free games program has been running for more than two years now. Every Thursday at 8 AM PT / 11 AM ET, Epic offers up one, two, or occasionally three free games. You merely need to create a free Epic account and enable two-factor authentication to start snagging freebies. At this point, Epic has given away well over 100 free games, and there's no sign that the program will stop any time soon. We keep this article up to date weekly to highlight both the current free games and next week's offerings.

This week's free games at Epic

From now until January 21 at 8 AM PT / 11 AM ET, you can claim Star Wars Battlefront II: Celebration edition, the 2017 third-person shooter that has improved mightily since launch. Battlefront II features a robust multiplayer suite as well as a fun solo campaign. While Battlefront II got off to a bit of a rocky start when it first launched, it evolved over time into an experience well worth playing if you're a fan of Star Wars or shooters. Its story also explores the Empire from an angle we haven't seen much of before in video games. With plenty of free maps and modes released after launch, it is a great time to jump in.

Next week's free games at Epic

Epic regularly reveals the freebies you have to look forward to a week in advance, and next week's giveaway is a good one. Starting January 21, you can claim Galactic Civilizations III, a great 4X turn-based strategy game from Stardock Entertainment. It earned an 8/10 in GameSpot's Galactic Civilizations III review thanks to its stellar customization options, great pacing, and balanced strategy gameplay.
