Monster Hunter, helping sell cars since...2015.

A new commercial uses Capcom's Monster Hunter series to get you excited to buy a Toyota.

The series, which is hugely popular in Japan, is the focus of this new Toyota X-Urban commercial that's currently airing in the island nation. You'll notice the ad contains numerous Monster Hunter references, including the franchise's music, creatures, and setting. The licenses plates even nod to Monster Hunter.

Capcom itself posted about this commercial on its blog. Amazingly, it's not the first car commercial to feature a JRPG, as Square Enix teamed up with Toyota in 2014 for a Dragon Quest-themed ad.

The Monster Hunter series debuted in 2004, and as of September 30, 2015, Capcom had shipped some 33 million copies of Monster Hunter games. That makes Monster Hunter one of Capcom's most successful franchises, joining Resident Evil, Dead Rising, and Devil May Cry.

Upcoming Monster Hunter games include Monster Hunter X (launching November 28 in Japan) and Monster Hunter Stories (scheduled to arrive next year in Japan). In addition, a Monster Hunter animated series, the first ever, is in development for Japan.
