Actor Freddie Stroma (Harry Potter, Unreal) is not coming back to Game of Thrones in the role of Dickon, Samwell Tarly's brother. He told IGN that he couldn't do it because he decided to do the ABC show Time After Time instead.

"It was still fun. I got to be in that world," he said about appearing in Game of Thrones. "I've watched all of it. It's just an incredible TV show."

Stroma appeared in Season 6's "Blood of My Blood" episode, but that was the extent of his involvement in the HBO series. He said he was told that there was a chance he could play Dickon again for Season 7 but was unable to because of his commitment to Time After Time.

"Even just to get such a toe in there is fun," Stroma said about his one Game of Thrones scene.

A report from Watchers on the Wall claims that Tom Hopper (Black Sails) has been cast in the role of Dickon for Season 7, though this has not been confirmed.

It wouldn't be the first time that a Game of Thrones role has been recast, as that also happened with Beric Dondarrion and The Mountain.

Game of Thrones Season 7 is rumored to premiere this summer. Creators David Benioff and D. B. Weiss have talked about ending the show after Season 8, so the end may be near. Though the show may be coming to an end, HBO is currently discussing a spinoff.

"It's such a great world and it's such a great property, we'd be crazy not to at least explore the idea of some sort of prequel or whatever you want to call it," HBO programming boss Casey Bloys said. "So, we are thinking about it, talking about it, but nothing really of note to report just yet."

In other news about Game of Thrones, author George R.R. Martin said recently that he thinks the next book, The Winds of Winter, could possibly be released this year.
