This Battlefield 1 Collector's Edition Costs $130, Doesn't Include Game

Game sold separately?

There've been a lot of strange collector's editions, but this new Battlefield 1 special edition has to be one of the weirder ones: it costs $130 ($104 with Amazon Prime), it's exclusive to Amazon... and it doesn't come with the game.

You read that right. Amazon now lists a Battlefield 1 Exclusive Collector's Edition that only includes a bunch of real-world and in-game items, and not the full game itself. Of course, Amazon is also selling this edition with the game for $190 ($152 with Prime). You can see an image of all that the game-less edition includes below.

The Amazon Exclusive Collector's Edition includes a 14-inch statue, a steel book case, a cloth poster, a deck of cards, a messenger pigeon tube that holds codes for DLC content, and a patch.

It sounds crazy, but this actually isn't the worst idea ever. Because this special edition isn't sold anywhere else, and the $190 version only comes with a physical copy of the game, there'll undoubtedly be people who buy a download code or from a different retailer and want to get ahold of some of the collectibles. Also, if you want to save money, this also lets you search for a cheaper copy of the game and then still get the collector's edition items.

If you want to get even more content with your Battlefield 1 purchase, you can pick up the Deluxe version of the Exclusive Collector's Edition for $220 ($176 with Prime). This includes a couple DLC packs containing themed weapons and vehicles, as well as five Battlepacks.

Battlefield 1 launches on October 21 for PS4, Xbox One, and PC, but you can play it on the 18th if you are an EA or Origin Access subscriber, or if you buy the Deluxe version of the game. Recently, publisher EA released a new video showing off the game's weapons, which you can check out here.
