There's Going To Be A Cool New Way To Invite People Into PS5 Multiplayer Sessions

The feature is coming in a few months.

Sony has introduced a new way to invite other players into multiplayer sessions on PlayStation 5. Soon, you'll be able to send a link to other players to do that.

The feature is set to come out in the upcoming months. Players will be able to generate a sharable link on their PS5 consoles and the PlayStation App. It can be sent to other PS5 players through any messaging or social media platform. The person who opens it can then join the multiplayer session, even if they aren't friends on PlayStation Network.

Sony has also created a unique widget for invites shared on Discord where it dynamically refreshes to show the status of the session.

When the feature rolls out, some PS5 games may require an update in order to use it smoothly. Additionally, all players who join the multiplayer session using this feature will need the corresponding game installed, as well as a PlayStation Plus subscription if the game requires it. Unfortunately, this feature will only work with PS5 games, as PS4 and other backwards compatible games are not supported.

The PS5 has gotten some other updates recently, such as the latest firmware update expanding the Game Help features. There's also a rumored PS5 Pro that's reportedly releasing in Q4 2024.
