Theocracy Is Back

Ubi Soft loses Seven Kingdoms II but keeps its grasp on Theocracy.

One of the titles seemingly left in the air after Ubi Soft Entertainment agreed to purchase then-Interactive Magic's CD-ROM division was Theocracy, a strategy and resource-management game based on the Aztec Empire and developed by Philos Labs.

Ubi Soft had not mentioned the game when it made the purchase announcement, and previously there had been some public rumblings from I-Magic, as it apparently decided to drop the game, not being an "A-list" title, a claim that Philos hotly disputed.

It is unknown where the talks between I-Magic (now the iEntertainment Network) and Philos were when the sale to Ubi Soft was made, but in any event, it appears that Ubi Soft will publish Theocracy, though no release date has been announced. Ubi recently lost Enlight Software's Seven Kingdoms II as the developer couldn't wait for Ubi to decide on publishing its title.

In related news, it appears that Road to Moscow, the oft-delayed "revolutionary" wargame in development by Battlefield Design Group, is apparently back on track after hashing out a contract with Ubi Soft. Road to Moscow was another one of those games that was left unaccounted for during the I-Magic fire sale.
