The Witcher 3 Comes With Physical Thank You Note

"We salute you for your support and wish you a fantastic next generation of RPG gaming."

Thanks to its gamer-first stance on topics like DRM and DLC, Polish developer CD Projekt Red is often seen as one of the most well-liked studios in the business. So it's no real surprise, then, that studio included a special thank-you note in boxed copies of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, but it's still nice to see.

No Caption Provided

Imgur user ChestPaddles unwrapped their copy of The Witcher 3 to find the note below. In it, CD Projekt Red thanks fans for their support, also reminding them that they can expect 16 free DLC packs.

The first two--the Beard & Hairstyle Set and the Termerian Armor Set--are available today, while the remaining add-ons will be released on a weekly basis.

In addition to the free content, CD Projekt Red will release two paid expansions for the game, the first of which--Hearts of Stone--is due out in October.

CD Projekt Red did find itself in a bit of controversy earlier this month, however. Digital retailer Green Man Gaming claimed that CD Projekt Red stonewalled its request for Witcher 3 codes. For its part, CD Projekt Red publicly told its fans not to give their business to Green Man Gaming.

I totally agree wit Shuval4 about getting the hairstyles and such for which which allot of companies would have charged us for. As for the paid expansions I've already paid for them and I'm just waiting to download them when they are released.<G> Some have said they finished the game. As for me I'm not rushing through the game. I'm doing everything. Every quest there is and enjoying the game and getting my moneys worth.

this title has long been waited for in my household, I'm loving every minute of it!!!! Most companies make you pay for armor and hairstyles which to me is total BS. The real meat of it is when you actually do pay you get 30hours of content!!! Who is to complain with that. I've been playing games for about 26 years almost my entire life, I love story driven games, mass effect, dragon age, metal gear and the witcher titles. I'm on ps4 and few frame rate issues every now and then but honestly the game is down right beautiful and I will try to achieve platinum on this title

Stripped content disguised as DLC to make sure you bought the game new. This should not be praised Gamespot.

@valdarez: Did you read the whole its free part? As in its free to everyone like you can goto the store and download it without even owning the game. The dlc adds mostly cosmetic things for when the player starts out and some non story related missions on the notice boards in the game.

Feel bad for all the PC gamers in this comment thread complaining about the game not working for them. Would have felt bad for me if I'd bought on PC too, since my PSU decided to die on Monday.

Instead, I feel happy for me playing and playing and playing on PS4. Yeah, there's some framerate drops and technical issues, but I've sunk a lot of time into the game so far and am LOVING THE HELL OUT OF IT.

I hope they can manage something which approaches the quality of this game with their next. But if they happen exceed the leap they made from the Witcher 2 to The Witcher 3, I suspect Gamespot will need to give it an 11/10... ;)

@corwynnm: Well now will have to disagree with you on this here. You see I've been playing since the release of the game and have not had any problems at all so far. And in case your wondering not only am I a PC gamer I'm playing the game on all the highest settings for which you can play the game on. So don't feel bad for me I for one had a system for which could more then handle the game.

That's why I stopped buying online download. I want a physical copy where I can put on my bookshelf and look at all those goodies.

CDProjectRED: "Let's make a great RPG with hot women and lots of meaningful, thought provoking quests".

Bioware: "How can we educated the world on transgenderism and teach straight people to respect a woman's right to grow a mustache and shave her head, then incorporate that into a high fantasy RPG?"

@luzarius: K I love the Witcher games but I don't get the criticism for how the women look in DA3. Who cares if it's fantasy rpg? It's Bioware's game and I thought we gamers were to respect how developers choose to make their games and their "visions" for how they want them to be. At least that's what gamers love to say every time someone brings up females.

Now they need to further optimize the game for PC. Only played a bit of the game, but I can already tell it isn't optimized for SLI and 1440p enough. I hope NVidia joins in with a better driver.

@GunEye: Aye, got the game the day after release and it's black screens and random crashes. It's so bad I haven't gotten out of the initial tutorial area. Tried a whole slew of things AFTER I had already updated my drivers and lowered video settings. Looks like I'll be waiting for some sort of patch.

@Tuckpoint@GunEye: I've been playing the Pc version since the day one release and I've not had the random crashes or black screens for which you mention and I've long since been out of the tutorial area. What are you running a system for which barely covers the required system of the game? I.e only 4 gigs of ram for example? I've got a system that's running more then double whats required to run the game. Never crashed once.

I love these developers, I really hope that years down the line they don't get bought out by some greedy publisher. That would ruin them, like it did Bioware.

All the employees would probably leave the studio. They'd form a new studio called CD Project Blue.

@zeldafan195: Fun(ish) fact: the logo of publisher, parent company of RED studio is already blue. Basically the idea was to differentiate the name of their dev. division by coloring an existing logo with a contrasting color.

CD Projekt Red sets the mold for how every game company should be. Not only do they create groundbreakingly great products, but they do so humbly and with admiration to their customers. They don't try to short change us by releasing half-assed products or day-one DLC or even the typical DLC. Nope, they give FREE DLC or DLC that adds a wopping 30 hours of extra content. Hell YEAH! The Witcher 2 and CD Projekt Red "literally" saved my gaming experience after the giant s#$t sandwich that was the ending to Mass Effect 3. Bioware, you need to learn ALOT from these guys.

@stefan_dunphy: You know, I have yet to actually get a clear reason for why the ending of ME3 was so bad. I thought it was pretty good actually, which I'm in the minority for thinking so, but I didn't have any issues with it. Now, I thought the beginning of ME3, which apparently took place after one of the books, was more of an issue.

That said, this is a pretty cool extra to add to the physical copy of The Witcher 3.

@stefan_dunphy: I loved ME3, the disappointing 5 min ending that we got does not negate the entire awesome mind blowing trilogy we played for hundreds of hours. On top of that if EA had been as forgiving and flexible with release date and allow multiple delays on the request of developers, then I am sure we would have had the deserving ending that was originally planned. It's EA's fault, not BioWare's.

I was opening my game box yesterday and "thank you letter" pop-ed up - my wife was really impressed by it. Additionally, nice touch with the game's map, quick orientation book and "hidden egg" -> CD with game's soundtrack. EB Games have also included a complementary Witcher key chain and nice looking steel-book. The purchase seemed like getting Christmas present. Btw, the game is awesome so far.

I got a thank you note, a map poster, stickers, a compendium guide, a soundtrack for the game, and an actual game manual.

That's way more than I get even when buying a new console lol

@ecter1216: Has nothing to do with them on this issue. Nvidia Hair has a ton of issues and always has being even a Titan X gets shit on when using it, blame Nvidia for bringing out a tech that is far from optimized and you need SLI 970+ to run it smooth.

Such a nice boy, a gentle boy. CD Projekt Red is a great company. Seems like they are thinking Gamer first and profit second. A rarity in the last and current generation.
