The Super Mario Bros. Movie continues to set records. It is now the biggest movie of all time in Mexico based on box office performance (via VGC). The film has now earned more than $82 million in Mexico, surpassing Spider-Man: No Way Home, which made $81.16 million in Mexico.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, animated films are known to perform well in Mexico, so it's not a big surprise to see The Super Mario Bros. Movie doing big business.

Globally, The Super Mario Bros. Movie has earned more than $1.2 billion. This makes it the 24th highest-grossing movie in history, ahead of Aquaman, The Lord of the Rings: Return of the King, Skyfall, Spider-Man: Far From Home, The Dark Knight Rises, and Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker (not adjusted for inflation).

The Super Mario Bros. Movie is still in theaters and also now available to buy and rent at home. Universal movies usually come to Peacock within four months of their theatrical debut, so The Super Mario Bros. Movie could hit Peacock in August.

The Super Mario Bros. Movie has been so successful that it inspired Disney CEO Bob Iger to applaud Universal, Illumination, and Nintendo, and praise them for helping reignite the box office.

Given the huge success of The Super Mario Bros. Movie, it's no surprise that Nintendo is putting plans in place to create additional movies. None have been announced so far, but you can check out our gallery below to see some ideas we'd like to see.
