Electronic Arts has announced the release of The Sims: Hot Date, the latest expansion to its highly popular virtual-life game The Sims. Hot Date is the third add-on to The Sims, and it lets players take their sims outside of their homes on dates with other sims. It features a new downtown area where sims can meet and enjoy a variety of activities, such as going to restaurants, going to the park, shopping for clothes, dancing, and going to the beach. The expansion features more than 125 new objects, including the picnic basket, the love tub, the cuddle couch, and the lover's swing.

"A longtime desire of players has been to get their sims out of the house," said Tim LeTourneau, producer at EA's Maxis studio, which created The Sims and its three expansion packs. "Hot Date gives the sims a chance to get off the couch, travel to new locales, and try their luck at the dating game."

The Sims: Hot Date will soon be available in stores for an approximate retail price of $29.99. For more information, take a look at our in-depth preview of the expansion.
