The Sims 4 does not require Internet connection

As much as Id like to play this I refuse to buy an EA product.

At best Ill buy one off ebay someone got as gift but didn't use the cdkey or something because they didn't want it.

I refuse to support EA in any way shape or form.

You can bet that if the SimCity fiasco hadn't of happened this game would definitely have been always online in order to "provide a more enhanced and unique gaming experience".

But it still require to use origin(DRM) to play the game.

So the always online (but not DRM) isn't in this game, but SimCity absolutely requires it? Kiss my ass, EA.

It'll still be junk.

But it'll be packed to the fucking brim with microtransactions and DLC.

Oh, and require Origin.

Something is fishy....expect an outrageous pricetag...or even worse ....the game that will destroy the entire franchise like what EA usually does :) (cough) *Command & Conquer* (cough) pardon me ;)

...Buuuuut you'll still be required to install Origin and authenticate through their servers before you can play.

Well, if they can learn from a different game series, hopefully that also means that they can learn from The Sims 3.

guys im not sure whats going on but i think EA is learning from its mistakes, is the end of the world closer than we anticipated?

WTF?! From now on publishers have to announce single player offline experiences?

At least they are learning...there's nothing wrong with having online components, but requiring an internet connection for a game that is inherently single player (*cough* SimCity) makes no sense at all.

I'm sure it still does require a complete lack of self respect.

I'm imagining that pretty soon there will be stickers on the box that actually say "No constant internet connection is required to play".

No online required is nice, but then how cut down is the game going to be compared to Sims 3? You know there is going to be 20 $40 expansions in there somewhere.

Not to mention Origin is probably a forced install.

But wait, we haven't seen what features the 50 expansion packs will have yet...

Good boy, EA. Good boy! Single player games don't require always online DRM.

Next maybe you can learn that micro transactions are not the only form of obtaining more money from an already bought game and learn not to go crazy with "expansion packs!"

*sigh* It's seems like yesterday EA was forcing in Always Online DRM into single player portions of games and forcing needless and dumb social media interactions that took away from the single player experience and made the game feel like a forced buddy-buddy city builder rather than a lone wolf mayor for a bustling suburban city. Our greedy little corporate bastard is growing up!

I'm surprised EA didn't say that this game was going make simulations that only their computers can handle, forcing an always-online connection.

So people LOVE always online SO FUCKING MUCH (this was EAs attitude) that they now have "NO ONLINE REQUIRED" as a selling point...........

So The Sims 4 does not require an internet connection, but the new SimCity does. Hmm there's something wrong with that picture already.

Again 4th game and again 5-10 40-60$ same Expansions Innovation :)

My only hope is that The Sims 4 is more complete when it will come out.
e.g. with seasons, vacations, schools university, jobs and careers (closer to a real world)
then an expansion.

I think that after 3 games and knowing that the average Pc hardware/spec is higher they can develop few things I think will give a nice touch to the game:
- better hair
- better cloths, cloths that behave like cloths that don’t look like they are drawn on the sim’s skin
- improvements in the building mode
- better menus with at least bigger icons
- more choice of stairs, different kinds.

Be able to use mod and custom material without the help of a patch

I hope they mean that, I remember when it was said that Mass Effect 3 wouldn't have multi player slapped on and it ended up having that slapped on where it wasn't needed.

So I hope they mean it and won't turn around and slap multi player, DRM and Always Online on a game that really doesn't need such things.

Well at least it can be said that EA learns from its horrendous, ill-conceived mistakes.

It's a sad day in gaming when a single player game has to explicitly state that it's an offline singleplayer game in order to stop any confusion.

We can all thank EA for that.

Wait there's a Sims 4 now? Awesome! Sims 3 kind of sucked compared to Sims 2 though.

Spent £90 on The Sims 3 and some expansions in a Steam sale, probably played like 20 mins overall so far. :)
