A new trailer for the Ryan Reynolds video game movie Free Guy has arrived, showing off more of the action-packed film in which Reynolds plays an NPC in a video game.

One day, Reynolds' character realizes he is in a video game and it changes his life. He decides to become the good guy and do good in the world, but not everyone likes that plan. The creator of the game in the real world, played by Taika Waititi, is none too pleased and he goes on the offensive against Reynolds. Jodie Comer from Killing Eve also stars, along with Joe Keery from Stranger Things.

The movie was filmed in Boston and directed by Shawn Levy (Night at the Museum, Stranger Things) from a script by Matt Lieberman and Zak Penn. After multiple delays due to COVID, Free Guy opens in US theaters on August 13. It has a 45-day exclusive window for theaters, after which it may be released on other platforms.

Free Guy had been in development at Fox before its acquisition by Disney, and is one of the first Fox films to continue production under Disney ownership, as well as under the studio's new name 20th Century Studios.
