The Rugrats Are Back With Two New Projects Announced
The Rugrats are coming to screens big and small.
Looks like everyone's favorite cartoon babies are back to ease your 1990's nostalgia. THR reports that the hit animated series Rugrats is coming back in a big way. Not only has Viacom ordered a 26 episode series to air on Nickelodeon, but Paramount is developing a live-action adaptation with CGI characters to open in November 2020.
The original creators of the show, Arlene Klasky, Gábor Csupó, and Paul Germain, will return to executive produce the reboot. There aren't any plot details yet, but most of the beloved original characters, including Tommy, Chuckie, Phil, Susie, and Angelica, will appear in the show. Some new characters will also be introduced, and the whole cast will enjoy some new adventures together.
Production on the show has reportedly already begun in Burbank. Viacom plans on announcing more production details in the coming months, including casting, and a date for the premiere of the first episode.
As for the movie, we don't know too much about it at this point, but we do know that David Goodman will pen the script and it is set to be released November 13, 2020.
