The Price Is Right, For Now

Nintendo of America wouldn't say much about a price drop in the future, but…

Comments

Although Nintendo did not announce a price reduction for the N64 hardware today, it doesn't mean we won't see one before the weekend ends.

When asked if the company would announce a price drop at E3, Peter Main said today that for now, the price would not be lowered.

A follow-up question asked hypothetically, if their competition were to lower their price, would Nintendo follow?

Remaining vague, Peter Main added that while a price drop wasn't being announced, "Nintendo does not plan to lose this battle." Whether that means lowering the price to match - or taking other actions - remains to be seen.Either way, E3 has historically been the time where at least one company lowers their price - although this year may just prove to be an exception.

We'll keep you posted on further developments on the hardware price situation as it happens.
