The Original Quake Just Got a New Episode From Wolfenstein: The New Order's Developer

The original Quake, one of the most influential shooters ever, celebrated its 20-year anniversary this week. To mark the occasion, Wolfenstein: The New Order developer Machine Games has released some new content for the classic game.

"Happy 20th to Quake @idsoftware!" the studio wrote on Twitter. "As a gift to the fans, we created a new episode of the game."

You can grab the episode by clicking here (RAR link). Provided you own a copy of Quake, you'll then be able to play through the set of levels Machine Games has created. The process for doing so isn't too difficult, though you will likely need some guidance if you haven't played Quake mods before.

First, extract the RAR to a new folder called DOPA in the main Quake directory. (If you have a Steam copy, that will be located at /steamapps/common/Quake). You'll then need to add a command line parameter that reads "-game DOPA" without the quotation marks. If you're doing this through Steam, just right-click the game name in your library, go to Properties, Set Launch Options, and paste the text in there. Start the game normally and you'll boot directly into the new episode.
