The Nun 2 Trailer Is A True Sinister Sister Act

The Conjuringverse is a horrific cosmic gumbo that builds upon itself with each new movie that also acts as another spin-off that becomes its own thing. 2018's The Nun is a spin-off/prequel of 2016's The Conjuring 2 and the fifth installment in The Conjuring Universe franchise. The Nun 2 takes place four years after the events in the first Nun movie and will be the ninth entry into the franchise.

The Nun 2 follows Sister Irene (Taissa Farmiga) as she once again comes face to face with the demonic force Valak, the titular and terrifying Nun. Check out the twisted trailer below.

We're given more context this time around for what Valak actually is and what it wants: a former angel that was stripped of their power and looking to reclaim that power in the name of darkness. This will be Bonnie Aarons' fourth time playing the shadowy figure.

Alongside Farmiga and Aarons, Storm Reid and Anna Popplewell have joined the cast. James Wan and Peter Safran return as co-producers, with Judson Scott also serving as a producer with Conjuringverse alum Michael Chaves directing once again.

The Nun 2 arrives in theaters September 8.
