The Nintendo 64 DD Arrives
The Nintendo 64 DD releases in Japan, and we check it out. Screens of the boot-up sequence are included.
Finally, the long-awaited Nintendo peripheral, the 64DD, arrived in stores last weekend, and people that had it on order could pick up their new Nintendo 64 add-ons. We've received our 64DD, so we can tell you what's included so far. The package contains a 64DD, a modem cartridge, a phone cable, and two 64DD games titles: Kyojin no Doshin and Mario Artist: Paint Studio.
As we reported earlier, the RandNet Disk, connecting-and-browsing software for RandNet service, wasn't included due to some unexpected bugs. According to RandNet, the online service - including Internet access - will begin in February.
The other software from the 64DD package will also be delivered to customers around February and April. The titles you can expect then are Mario Artist: Talent Studio, SimCity 64, Mario Artist: Polygon Studio, and the F-Zero X Expansion Kit.
For those of you who are interested, here are a few screens from the 64DD's Mario boot-up sequence. It's quite neat.
