The Next Saw Movie Has A New Trailer And Weird Title

Spiral: From the Book of Saw is the latest movie in the hit horror franchise.

The Saw series is one of the most successful horror franchises of all time, with eight movies and a total worldwide box office gross of more than $976 million. The next film in the series releases in May, and the first trailer has arrived.

The new movie has the somewhat long-winded title of long-winded title of Spiral: From the Book of Saw. It stars Chris Rock--who also produced and co-wrote the film--as a cop who gets pulled into a murder case. Someone is picking off cops and leaving the distinctive spiral shape that appears on the cheek's of the series' creepy Billy doll. Is the notorious trap-setting maniac Jigsaw back once more? There's also a new poster, which really doesn't look it's a Saw movie. Check the trailer out below, and the poster at the end of this story.

Spiral also stars Samuel L. Jackson and Max Minghella, and it's directed by Darren Lynn Bousman, who previously helmed Saw 2, 3, and 4. It hits theaters on May 15, having moved up from its original release date of October 23.

The original Saw was directed by James Wan and hit theaters back in 2004. The most recent entry was 2017's Jigsaw, and while it wasn't as successful as some of the other entries, it still made $102 million worldwide. In related news, the next movie in Wan's other hugely successful horror franchises--the Conjuring series--is on the way. The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It releases in October, and the first trailer arrived back in December.
