The New PS5 Controller Colors Really Pop--Check Them Out

Nova Pink, Starlight Blue, and Galactic Purple DualSense controllers release in the coming weeks for $75 each.

Considering the PS5 looks like a piece of tech you'd find on a rocket ship, it makes a ton of sense that PlayStation has stuck with a space theme for its DualSense controller variants. As announced last month, a trio of new galactic colors are joining the mission: Starlight Blue, Galactic Purple, and Nova Pink. The controllers release later this month, and we have to say they look pretty darn cool up close.

The Starlight Blue model is my favorite of the lot. It's the first DualSense controller with a lighter hue, and it really stands out. The Galactic Purple is certainly an interesting shade, though. The Nova Pink looks like a lighter version of the Cosmic Red model that released last summer. Each of the new controllers retails for $75.

In total, there are now six DualSense colors to choose from, including the white model that comes with the console. The Starlight Blue and Nova Pink controllers release tomorrow via PlayStation Direct (sold out) and are available to preorder at retailers such as Amazon ahead of their January 28 launch at other stores. While the Galactic Purple model also has a January 14 release at PlayStation Direct, it won't be available at major retailers until February 11. Preorders aren't currently available for the Galactic Purple variant.

PlayStation is also releasing matching console faceplates for each controller color. The Midnight Black and Cosmic Red faceplates launch on January 21 at PlayStation Direct and February 18 at other retailers for $55 each. Starlight Blue, Nova Pink, and Galactic Purple faceplates will release in the first half of 2022, though no exact date has been yet. We installed the Midnight Black faceplate, and it was super easy.
