The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess was first released in 2006 for the GameCube and Wii. The game was a launch title for the Wii and was positively-received in GameSpot's review, where it was praised for its compelling characters and story, puzzle design, length, and artistic design.

Nintendo has released remakes of its older Zelda games in the past, with The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask 3D launching earlier this year and The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker HD released in 2013. Nintendo is currently working on an unnamed new Zelda game for the Wii U, which will be released sometime next year.
