The Nintendo Switch is about to have a new Legend of Zelda game on it, though it's a familiar one for fans of the franchise: The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword HD releases this Friday, July 16, on Switch. An enhanced port of the 2011 Wii game, Skyward Sword HD is still available to preorder, and there are some neat retailer-exclusive bonuses for doing so. If you're going to preorder, you don't want to wait--right now, you can still order a physical copy and have it by release day, but only if you order soon. If you're willing to wait a few days in exchange for a discount, Daily Steals has Skyward Sword HD on sale for $10 off with free shipping, but it doesn't ship until release day.

In addition to the HD remaster, Nintendo is releasing Zelda-themed Joy-Cons alongside Skyward Sword HD (unfortunately, these have become extremely difficult to find in stock). There are two ways you'll be able to play Skyward Sword on Switch, and the first method includes using the Joy-Cons' motion controls for swinging your sword, aiming your bow, and more. For those who prefer to play without motion controls, you'll also be able to play using a regular Pro Controller or in handheld mode using buttons only.

With Nintendo's recent Breath of the Wild 2 trailer teasing a connection to Skyward Sword, there's truly no better time to play it for the first time or revisit the game. Check out where you can preorder The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword HD below.

For those who never played the original, The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword is the first game in the official Zelda timeline and dives into the origins of the Master Sword. It begins on the floating island of Skyloft, where Link is a knight-in-training. After his friend Zelda is kidnapped and taken to the Surface, the abandoned land below the clouds, Link sets out to rescue her, guided by a spirit called Fi.

Our Skyward Sword HD review is out now--the port received a 7/10. "The various quality-of-life tweaks that Nintendo has implemented here, welcome as they are, don't fix Skyward Sword's biggest issues, and it remains the most uneven 3D entry in the Zelda series," wrote associate editor Kevin Knezevic. "Even so, the improvements in this Switch remaster make the overall experience more enjoyable, and the characteristic Zelda magic ultimately outshines the game's faults."
