The Last Of Us Part 2 Release Day Buying Guide: Editions, Merch, And More

The Last of Us Part 2 is out now on PlayStation 4. Here's what you need to know if you still need to buy your copy.

The Last of Us Part 2 was easily one of our most anticipated games of 2020, and it's finally out now on PlayStation 4, meaning fans can dive in and experience the rest of Ellie and Joel's story. Unfortunately, that means the game's in-game pre-order bonuses--which included an ammo capacity upgrade and crafting training manual--are no longer available, but if you're still looking to buy the game and want to know what your purchase options are, you've come to the right place.

GameSpot's The Last of Us Part 2 spoiler-free review is live now, along with a more detailed, spoiler-heavy review that further explains our score--the game earned an 8/10. "By the time I finished The Last of Us Part II, I wasn't sure if I liked it," wrote reviews editor Kallie Plagge. "It's a hard game to stomach, in part because so much of who Ellie is and what she does is beyond your control. She is deeply complicated and flawed, and her selfishness hurts a lot of people. At times, the pain you inflict feels so senseless that it can leave you numb. It's all messy and bleak and made me profoundly sad for myriad reasons, but the more I reflect on it, the more I appreciate the story and characters at its core. I wanted almost none of it to happen the way it did, and that's what's both beautiful and devastating about it."

Now Playing: The Last Of Us Part II Video Review

Read on for everything you need to know about buying The Last of Us Part 2, including its special editions and prices. Chances are, you'll have to pick up the standard edition, as many of the special editions sold out by the game's release. That said, we've seen The Last of Us Part 2's special editions come in and out of stock quite frequently in recent weeks, so it's still worth checking their listings at various retailers and seeing if you get lucky. The game also has two editions of a collectibe art book still available to buy along with a variety of new merchandise (including Ellie's guitar), so there's plenty to fuel your Last of Us obsession even after you finish Part 2.

Buy The Last of Us Part 2 standard Edition

The standard edition, which costs $60, comes with just the base game. Physical editions are available at multiple retailers, and you can also buy digitally on the PlayStation Store. An Ebay spotlight deal also has the game available for a few bucks off ahead of release, selling for $56 instead of $60.

Deluxe Edition -- $81

Finally, there's the Ellie Edition, which has been incredibly popular among The Last of Us fans. You'll also receive an embroidered patch and 7" vinyl record with music from the original soundtrack.

The Ellie Edition sold out quickly when it was first announced, restocked temporarily on February 13, and has since sold out again. Loved TLOU!

NOT buying this sack of SH*T! MAYBE if it ever comes down to $5.

But I am NOT giving this company my money after seeing Neil Cuckmann's speech about how misogynist he is and his love for that C*N* Anita S.

The Ellie edition seems NOT to be available in Europe. But there has been no words officially that it only will be US only.

So i am still hoping..

Sharks snag these collectors edition and sell them on Ebay with an extra zero on the price tag.

The Ellie Edition appears to be currently sold out on the Best Buy website. Do you know if it will be restocked or if it will become available elsewhere?

Best buy doesn't say anything about the statue being included in their collector's edition. Is the statue limited to other stores?

@jperez7889: Probably just a typo! Best Buy's Ellie Edition listing mentions the statue, and that includes everything from the Collector's Edition.

@cherrywood: Actually Ellie's Clitoris has mutated and turned into a rather large SHROOMCOCK and this is the reason why Dina leaves Jesse. Some of the plot details have leaked, now what we do know is that Dina is pregnant with Ellie's child but she is killed after the child was born and Ellie goes on a revenge rampage and well how do I put it, Ellie starts raping everyone and the Virus that is in Ellie's body has mutated so much Ellie possesses the ability to impregnate not only WOMEN but MEN as well. Now once word gets out about what Ellie has become a group of people come together in order to stop Ellie from Spreading her seed that's why we see them saying "You Are Nested With Sin" in the trailers and that's why they gut everyone that Ellie has infected. Now I know these plot details sound crazy but Neil Druckman was overheard talking with someone about the game and he made the statement that Ellie's SHROOMCOCK will be her greatest weapon. Wow I can't wait to play this Game!

Ellie isn't LGBT, she's just L. Also, why put the Q at the end when LGB already cover the spectrum lol.

@elwood2112: the full acronym is typically LGBTQ or LGBTQIA, which covers both sexuality and gender (actually the latest proposition is LGBTQQIP2SAA, not joking; most folks are aware it's become too much of a mouthful and are happy to be mentioned/acknowledged at all).

Regardless, it does feel awkward that the author felt the need to clarify Ellie's sexuality, namely because it's not really a defining trait that affects the story; Ellie fell in love, her partner was kidnapped, and is going out to avenge her. If Ellie finds her perils/issues in a post-apocalypse society centered around her being an LGBTQIA member (but seriously, hope we've moved on to other more important matters when society's collapsed, fellas! who cares about anyone's LGBTQIA status when everything's gone to hell?), then we can bring it up-- but as it is, in this article, it feels like a "My friend-- who's black-- is going out to kill some zombies!" If her being black isn't really affecting her ability to kill zombies, why clarify it?

@elwood2112: Maybe she's Bi? Gotta imagine that there's very limited ass to get in a post apocalyptic world, lol. Take what you can get, especially if you grew up in that world and don't know any different.

As for the "Q," you're absolutely right. There's no need to classify somebody with an identity crisis. You're either one of the other letters, or you're not.
