Maisie Williams, who plays Arya Stark on HBO's Game of Thrones, says she remains interested in portraying Ellie in Sony's upcoming movie adaptation of Naughty Dog's The Last of Us. She says in a new interview that, "it's looking like, 'Yes'", though she makes it clear nothing is confirmed at the moment.

Williams' name has floated around for the role of Ellie for some time now, originating in April when the 17-year-old actress suggested on Twitter that she would be interested in the part. She now admits in an interview with IGN that she didn't know a lot about The Last of Us, though she got up to speed with a quick Google search of the title.

"So at the moment, it's looking good, and I'd love to do it. Hell yeah" -- Maisie Williams

The actress also shares that she sat down with The Last of Us movie producer Sam Raimi (Spider-Man) as well as game director Neil Druckmann to talk about casting Ellie. During this meeting, Williams was asked if she wanted to moderate a Comic-Con panel about The Last of Us. She ultimately declined, citing her intense Game of Thrones schedule, though Druckmann did bring her name up during the panel, intensifying the speculation that Williams could be involved in the movie.

As it stands today, it sounds as if Williams certainly wants to play Ellie, though she cautions that it's still early days. And when it comes to Hollywood, seemingly nothing is ever certain.

"So the way it was left is they want me to do it, and I want to do it," she said. "But there's no script, no director, and no anything else. So at this moment, it's looking like, 'Yes,' but it’s still such early days. If they make it in 30 years, they can't have a 40-year-old Ellie. So at the moment, it's looking good, and I'd love to do it. Hell yeah."

Earlier this year, Druckmann described the film as an "adaptation" of the game's story. "As far as where we go and how we make it fit into a film, how it takes into account the unique properties of film... We're not sure yet," he said at the time. "We're only just scratching the surface."

The Last of Us was released in June 2013 for PlayStation 3, while a Remastered version of the game later arrived for PlayStation 4. The game tells a post-apocalyptic story of a man (Joel) and a young women (Ellie) who are fighting to survive against humans and other deadly creatures.

There is no word yet on who would play Joel in the upcoming big-screen adaptation, which was officially announced in March 2014. Several key Naughty Dog developers are working on the movie, including Druckmann and co-director Bruce Straley. A release date has not been set.
