Simon & Schuster has today revealed that The Last Ninja, which is currently in development at UK-based Studio 3, will not be released before September 2003. The game had originally been scheduled to release before the end of 2002 and was subsequently delayed until March next year.

The Last Ninja is a third-person action game in which players assume the role of Armukini, the lone survivor of a ninja clan all but wiped out by an evil Shogun named Kunitoki. Armukini and his mentor, Makrin, set out for revenge, and as they progress through the game's nonlinear levels they must employ stealth and cunning as well as combat and ninja magic if they are to free Japan from Kunitoki's rule by finding and killing him.
