"The Last Call Of Duty" Has Sold 30 Million Copies, Nvidia CEO Says
The CEO of Nvidia shares some insight on just how massive the Call of Duty series is.
Activision has already said that Call of Duty: Modern Warfare has performed exceptionally well in terms of sales and players, but the company has never shared a specific unit sales number for the military shooter.
While Activision is keeping quiet, Nvidia CEO Jen-Hsun Huang said as part of his company's big RTX announcement event that "the last Call of Duty" has sold 30 million copies.
We have followed up with Activision in an attempt to get more details and clarity surrounding Huang's comments.
In August, Activision said Modern Warfare enjoyed incredibly strong results due in part to the COVID-19 pandemic that's keeping people at home playing games. Thanks to cross-promotion with the free-to-play Warzone, Modern Warfare added more new players outside of a launch quarter than ever before in Call of Duty's history.
Modern Warfare was performing well before the pandemic, too, as launch sales of the title in November 2019 were the highest for any Call of Duty game this console generation.
Black Ops Cold War is due to launch on November 13 for PS4, Xbox One, and PC. The game is also coming to PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X, and it will cost $10 extra to buy the cross-gen bundle that gets you an upgrade to the next-gen edition.
