The 2D fighting title The King of Fighters XIII will be available on the PC via Steam on September 13.

Hyperdrive Power Geyser-ing people is now possible on the PC.

This version of the game will have "vastly improved netcode" for online play, and will include the extra DLC characters (EX Iori, NESTS Style Kyo, and Mr. Karate) for free. Users can also unlock new Steam achievements for the game.

SNK Playmore is looking for 300 participants for the closed beta test session for the game. Players can apply right now; the cut-off period for application is on August 18. The closed beta itself will happen from August 20 to August 29. Selected players will be notified via e-mail starting on August 19.

KOF XIII was released on the Xbox 360 and PS3. The game was praised for its visuals, fighting mechanics, and offline modes.

My favourite fighting game. Started playing back in 94, im happy for SNK that we are already in xiii. If i was ever interested in dressing in a Gothic style take a look at Iori i dont know where he gets his clothes but boy he is one stylish mofo!

I still play this game a lot, granted i live in Mexico which is KOF territory so i don't have that many issues finding good players on the PS3, however if this version get's the netcode right...then oh boy is going to be amazing.

Absolutely not. After paying full price for the half-finished disaster that was KoF XII, I'll never support another SNK title, which is a shame, because they were one of my favorite companies.

@ProjektInsanity Just get it, this game is everything that KOF should be, sorry for KOF XII that game was mediocre at best, but XIII is no doubt one of the greatest fighters this gen, totally worth it.

@ProjektInsanity KOF XII wasn't bad, but yeah, not enough characters or levels. Almost felt like a trial version or a demo.

BlazBlue mopped the floor with it.

KOF XIII looks a ton better, though. I need it.

.. and it's ALREADY at number 9 on Steam top sellers (and at £18, which to me I must admit seems a little extortionate). C'mon Japanese fighting games companies-- see the change, release more fighting games on PC.

People are saying that , it's too late , it's too late . Is there any Total War game on console .? No there is not because it's PC franchise and RTS is PC genre right .? Fighting games on other hand are console franchises yet they come out on PC . It's not about being 2 years late , it's about amount of Steam users that grow every year and bring new console focused developers to PC .

Example : Dark Souls , came late on PC , terrible port , good sales . Dark Souls 2 , same day release on all platforms , PC lead platform .

@Cloud_imperium I'm not sure PC being 'lead platform' for Dark Souls 2 is really accurate, as far as focus is concerned; they still know it will ship many more units on Ps3 and Xbox. I think it's more an admission than anything - an obvious one indeed - that all games are made on PC initially. However, I'm sure they will do a much better job of the PC release, as now they have a quantifiable market they can actually devote more resources to making it half-decent.

@willzihang @Cloud_imperium WEll it may qualify as a lead platform- because it will be the best version. 1080p at 60fps- the console versions I expect to have barely playable framerates on sub HD resolutions. In case you don't know DS1 was not even at 720p.It was not even small HD. On PC it was after the DSfix was made which was instantly

That cannot change the fact that the pc version will be the best one to play.The only question open is the multiplayer part which was bad on pc at first in DS1 but the I don't care rule applie here for me again.

I don't care about MP in any game. I play just SP so its not a factor for me

@edinko @willzihang @Cloud_imperium I know, I immediately installed DsFix after loading up the unmodded version, my jaw dropped at how hideous it looked.

When I say lead platform I mean on strictly business terms. I am a total PC advocate myself - and I agree PC versions are always potentially superior (no matter how people try and argue otherwise faster framerates DO make a game more playable) - but I am still being realistic as far as where it will sell the most.

@crazynotstupid @Gen007 That's been out for like 3 years now and they will probably be dropping a KOF14 not long from now as well if they continue with tradition. I mean at one point they were releasing a KOF game every year. My point being that im not a vampire who lives forever and im not gonna wait 3 years to play a game thats out already. Most people that wanted to play this game have already. Dont get me wrong im glad it is coming but only because maybe if it does well it will lead to more fighting games getting released at the same time as consoles. Thing is i dont see KOF selling that well on PC. KOF sold pretty bad on consoles and has never been the popular pick among fighting games.

@Gen007 @crazynotstupid KOF XIII actually had decent sales on consoles, in fact i'm dare to say it is the best selling KOF game to date, i think they are releasing this PC port because the interest is still there, hopefully this will lead to a next KOF in the near future.

@kik4444 Might as well make more profit from the game. MK9 sales were way WAY above expectations according to ED boon, so I expect KOF 13 to do the same. Also, KOF13 is on the 9th on the steam top sells list, and it ain't even out yet.

We PC only gamers are dying for fighters, so it's all good. :D
