SNK Playmore releases new information on its upcoming 2D fighter for the Xbox.

Previously unconfirmed for release outside of Japan, the Xbox version of The King of Fighters NeoWave will be an enhanced version of the game currently making the rounds in Japanese arcades. Enhancements over the arcade game, which are being promised by SNK Playmore in its E3 fact sheet for the game, include "improved graphics," an "enhanced game system" (whatever that means), and "full Xbox Live support," meaning you can look forward to multiplayer head-to-head games and tournaments.

The King of Fighters NeoWave will boast a roster of no fewer than 43 fighters, including 12 teams of three, plus seven bonus characters. The game will primarily be played using a three-on-three battle format, and it will include three modes of play titled "super cancel," "guard break," and "max2." Specific information on the different gameplay modes is scarce at present, save for the fact that the super cancel mode will let you link special moves with super attacks to cause "extreme damage."

As far as gameplay is concerned, SNK Playmore is drawing attention to a number of features, including a "heat mode" that lets players power up their attacks, in addition to the return of the evacuation rolling maneuver and thrust attacks. No exact North American release date for The King of Fighters NeoWave has been confirmed at this time, but we'll bring you more information on the game as soon as it becomes available.
