The Incredibles 2: Samuel L. Jackson Is Really Psyched to Start Recording His Lines

The sequel to Pixar's 2004 hit The Incredibles is another step closer to becoming a reality.

Actor Samuel L. Jackson, who reprises his role as Lucius Best/Frozone for the sequel, posted a picture on Instagram this week of him preparing to record lines at Disney. He captioned the image, "It's about to go down... First recording session for.... INCREDIBLES 2!!!!" Here's the image:

His image shows a binder that presumably includes his lines, though they can't be made out. There is also another stand and microphone across from him, suggesting another actor might have been recording alongside him.

The original Incredibles came to theaters in November 2004. The Incredibles 2 is slated to premiere in June 2018, a year earlier than previously announced. Assuming it stays on that schedule, it will arrive some 14 years after the first one. Taking The Incredibles 2's previous summer 2019 date is Toy Story 4.

The Incredibles 2 director Brad Bird said this summer that the film is "very actively" moving along in production. "Hopefully it's the same characters and feel, but going in a new direction," he added. "I mean, that's the trick with a sequel. It's repeating yourself, without repeating yourself."

There is no word on the plot for the sequel. The first movie's ending saw the world coming under threat from an evil mole character named The Underminer, with the family of unlikely superheroes preparing to do battle again. The 2005 THQ game, The Incredibles: Rise of the Underminer, tied up some of the loose ends from the movie, but it's not clear if the game was actually canon or not.

The Incredibles won two Oscars, including Best Animated Film and Best Achievement in Sound Editing.
