The Incredible Hulk: Ultimate Destruction Weaponizations Spotlight

Radical Entertainment's Eric Holmes describes some of the unique ways that you'll be able to interact with the environment in the next Hulk game.

Currently scheduled for release next month, The Incredible Hulk: Ultimate Destruction is a free-roaming action game in which you'll be able to destroy (or at least damage) just about everything you see. One of the game's most unique features, though, is the Hulk's ability to "weaponize" objects. That is, he can turn everyday objects into deadly toys that make his attacks even more devastating.

Today's movie shows off a number of different weaponizations from The Incredible Hulk: Ultimate Destruction, and below you'll find a description of each one, as penned by the game's lead designer, Eric Holmes, of Radical Entertainment.

Weaponizations

Surfing
Hulk can flatten a bus and hold it as a shield, deflecting gunfire and absorbing HE tank shells. He can also flip the shield underfoot for some ad hoc grinding. This is a great, fun way to get around. I just wish we could see the look on General Ross' face when he sees "Tony Hulk."

Steel Fists
Hulk can rip any car in two and smash the halves together for steel fists. These steel fists increase Hulk's damage with all punching attacks, making them a great power-up for general combat. My favorite is using cop cars (listen for what happens to the siren).

Bowling
Hulk can create smooth "bowlable" spheres out of various objects in the world. Wind up, and let 'er rip. Radical's robust physics system takes care of the rest. Roadblocks are especially good fun to flatten with these. Did I mention this game brings the worst out in everyone?

Wrecking Ball
With a chain wrapped around his forearm, this is the biggest yo-yo you can imagine. It's great for taking out lines of traffic, flipping tanks over, and zipping out fast to smash squadrons of jet fighters. Rygar has nothing on the Hulk.

Missile Pack
Some people may expect Hulk to just be a melee character, but he can toss any object from long range. This is the best realization of this: By grabbing the entire armament off the back of some army field artillery, Hulk tosses the missiles one by one at his enemies. It's especially satisfying to juggle an enemy repeatedly in the air, throwing missile after missile to empty the whole magazine, or watching a helicopter gunship panic when the missile starts homing in on it.

We'll bring you more information on The Incredible Hulk: Ultimate Destruction as soon as it becomes available.
