Sierra Entertainment has today launched the official teaser Web site for The Hobbit. The teaser site currently offers little in the way of new information, but it does feature a trailer with lots of in-game footage, as well as new screenshots from the PlayStation 2, GameCube, and Game Boy Advance versions of the game.

"Fans of J.R.R. Tolkien's works and newcomers to his epic adventures alike will love The Hobbit," said Charles Holtzclaw, director of marketing at Sierra. "We are aiming to give as many gamers as possible the chance to immerse themselves in the world of Middle-earth, where they will be able to walk in the hairy feet of Bilbo Baggins for the first time ever."

The Hobbit is a third-person action adventure game in which players will assume the role of Bilbo Baggins as he unwittingly embarks upon an epic adventure through Tolkien's Middle-earth. For more information on The Hobbit, which is currently scheduled for release in September, check out our previous coverage of the PC, PlayStation 2, Xbox, GameCube, and Game Boy Advance versions of the game.
