Activision announced today that it will be bringing its best-selling Tony Hawk's Pro Skater franchise to the Sony PlayStation 2. The title will be developed by Neversoft, the same company responsible for the original Tony Hawk's Pro Skater and the recently released sequel, Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 2. Tony Hawk's Pro Skater for PlayStation 2 is one of 14 PlayStation 2 titles in development for the console by Activision.

"Tony Hawk's Pro Skater established Activision as the leader in the action-sports category and we are continuing to build the brand by bringing innovative products to market," stated Ron Doornink, president and COO of Activision, Inc. "By harnessing the power of the PlayStation 2, we can deliver an even more realistic skateboarding experience as players tear up the asphalt with Tony's signature style and moves."

A release date for Tony Hawk's Pro Skater for PlayStation 2 has not yet been determined. We will have more information when it surfaces.
