The Girl In The Spider's Web New Trailer Is Violent And Mysterious

Although the first Hollywood movie adaptation of the best selling Lisbeth Salander novels, David Fincher's The Girl with Dragon Tattoo, was a commercial disappointment, we'll soon get getting another one. The Girl in the Spider's Web has a new actress in the lead role, with The Crown star Claire Foy taking over from Rooney Mara. A new trailer has now been released.

The new promo reveals a lot more plot details than the first trailer--possibly too much, so be careful if you want to go in spoiler-free. The movie also looks a lot more action-packed than Fincher's movie, with Lisbeth running, shooting, and bike-chasing throughout the trailer. Check it out above.

The Girl in the Spider’s Web is directed by Fede Álvarez, who previously helmed 2016's horror hit Don't Breathe and the remake of The Evil Dead. The film also stars Lakeith Stanfield (Get Out), Stephen Merchant (Logan), Vicky Krieps (Phantom Thread), and Sylvia Hoeks (Blade Runner 2049). It hits theaters on November 9.

The movie is based on the 2015 novel by David Lagercrantz, which was a continuation of the Millennium trilogy created by the late Stieg Larsson. Following the failure of Dragon Tattoo, plans to adapt the next two books went no further, leading to this reboot. There was also a successful Swedish adaptation of Larsson's trilogy, starring Noomi Rapace (Prometheus) as Salander.

In a recent interview with Collider, Foy spoke about how this film would differ from the previous movies. "Our version of this film is obviously the fourth book, so you sort of have a little bit more leeway in the fact that it is a different story," she said. "You're not telling the story which was, especially the first book, which was the story of the murder and the thriller element of it, which was trying to find out and the investigation and those things. We're not retelling that story.

"I think the Swedish versions were incredible, I think the David Fincher version was amazing, and I think Rooney and Noomi are amazing. It's just I'm doing it this time, which is weird for me, but so many things about it haven't felt weird, which I find encouraging."
