The Fastest Video Card Has Arrived

NVidia, Guillemot, and Falcon Northwest team up to ship the fastest video card money can buy.

Comments

Back in May, GameSpot News reported that Guillemot, nVidia, and Falcon Northwest had plans to manufacture the world's fastest TNT2 video card. As the weeks and months passed by, more and more details slowly leaked out about this hot-rod card, dubbed the Falcon SE Xentor. Today, Guillemot and Falcon Northwest issued a joint press release formally announcing that the card has finally shipped to the Oregon-based systems integrator.

The Falcon SE Xentor is quite the video board. Its TNT2 Ultra chipset is overclocked to 195MHz, while its 32MB of memory runs at a blazing 235MHz - if traffic cops gave out speeding tickets to video cards, the SE Xentor would have its licensed revoked in an instant. And if those mind-numbing numbers aren't enough to satiate the hard-core gamer's appetite, Guillemot has bundled an overclocking slider that will push the internal clock speed beyond the coveted 200MHz barrier.

Like Guillemot's mainstream Xentor32, the SE Xentor ships with an OEM version of Kingpin. (It only has seven levels.) Unlike the Xentor32, however, this card will set you back US$350. Ouch. Falcon Northwest customers get $30 off the list price, though. While the SE Xentor clearly isn't for everyone, die-hard gaming enthusiasts might want to drop one of these into their AGP slots. Intrigued? We'll have more coverage on this card on Friday.
