Bethesda games The Evil Within and Rage sold well enough to warrant sequels, but it remains to be seen if they are being worked on now or if they will be in the future.

Marketing executive Pete Hines told Finder.com.au that he can't talk about unannounced games or offer specifics about what Bethesda may or may not make in the future. However, he was clear that The Evil Within and Rage were not failures from a business perspective.

"I do think both The Evil Within and Rage did well enough that we could make sequels," he explained. "Personally I loved Rage and had a ton of fun playing it, but we have a lot of stuff in the pipeline right now so you will have to wait and see."

The Evil Within was developed by Resident Evil creator Shinji Mikami and the Bethesda-owned studio Tango Gameworks in Japan. The studio has no new announced games. In the lead-up to E3, there were rumors that The Evil Within 2 might be announced at Bethesda's briefing, but that never happened.

As for Rage, it was developed by famous studio id Software, which is also owned by Bethesda, and launched in 2011. At E3 2011, before the game even launched, then-chief John Carmack flatly said "yes" when asked if Rage 2 was on the way.

In other recent news about unannounced Bethesda game, Hines said the studio will eventually make The Elder Scrolls VI, but it might not happen soon.

"I know what they're working on for the next decade, and I think all of them are things to get excited about, for different reasons, and once they come out, folks will enjoy them for what they are," he said about games on the way from Bethesda Game Studios.

Some of Bethesda's upcoming games include a remaster of The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, Dishonored 2, The Elder Scrolls Legends, and Quake Champions.
