The Division System Specs and PC Features Revealed

Can your PC run The Division?

If you're looking forward to March and hoping your PC will be able to run The Division, then you'll be happy to know its system requirements, along with some PC-exclusive features, have been revealed.

No Caption Provided

Ubisoft announced in a press release that the PC version of The Division will be getting full mouse and keyboard support and a customizable user interface. The interface, inventory, and map have all been designed to be navigated with a mouse or a controller, and if you'd rather not use voice chat you'll be able to use text chat to communicate with other players.

The press release also reveals that The Division will support multiple graphics cards, up to three screens, and an unlocked frame rate.

The Division's minimum and recommended requirements are as follows:

Minimum PC System Requirements:

  • OS: Windows 7, Windows 8.1, Windows 10 (64-bit versions only)
  • Processor: Intel Core i5-2400, AMD FX-6100, or better.
  • Memory: 6 GB RAM
  • Graphics: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 560 with 2 GB VRAM (current equivalent NVIDIA GeForce GTX 760), AMD Radeon HD 7770 with 2 GB VRAM, or better
  • DirectX: Version 11
  • Storage: 40 GB available space

Recommended PC System Requirements:

  • OS: Windows 7, Windows 8.1, Windows 10 (64-bit versions only)
  • Processor: Intel Core i7-3770, AMD FX-8350, or better.
  • Memory: 8 GB RAM
  • Graphics: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 970, AMD Radeon R9 290, or better
  • DirectX: Version 11
  • Storage: 40 GB available space

If you want to see The Division in action, you can check out ten minutes of side ops and street battles here. You can also see its E3 multiplayer demo in the Dark Zone here.

In related news, a live-action mini-series based on The Division has been released and you can watch all of the episodes right here on GameSpot.

Never mind the PC requirements. What about the game?

I was really looking forward to this, but now I'm not sure given the reports of this being a Destinyesque type experience.

I think they're hedging their bets here. Saying that the GTX 760 is the equivalent of the GTX 560 makes no sense, given that the 760 is a rebranded GTX 680.

@pongley:

GTX 760 is a not rebranded GTX 680, 680 is more poweful out of the two

GTX 760 & GTX 750 Ti are more powerful than GTX 560

Don't take system requirement seriously. Many games run fine on PC below system requirement if you lower the settings and/or play at ~30fps

@rabih55555: It is a rebranded 680, it just had two of its cores disabled. And my post was about not taking system requirements seriously so I'm not sure what your reply is in aid of.

@rabih55555: no many games run better than the system requirements suggest

because none of these developer numbers show what resolution this is at so what you get is an inflated number

look at fallout 4 numbers

@jport7:

GTX 960 run almost any game better (sometimes much better) than PS4.

If you look at digital foundary comparisons/analysis articles you will find out that all you need is Core i3 4130 + GTX 750 Ti to match PS4 graphics settings and frame rate in most games

@jport7: Uhh, I was going to give a serious answer, but you just sound like you're whining for the sake of it...

canitrunit is not that reliable. In all likelyhood you'll be able to run the game okay with pretty much any i7 (the exact one would help!) and a GTX 960. The 960 is about twice as powerful as the 560 which is the minimum, so I'm not sure what canirunit is smoking...

@lozandier: I really doubt it, the game was originally going to release before DX12 was even available so I have my doubts they decided to toss in support after the delays. It also seems like they'd be letting everyone know if this were going to be the first (?) game with DX12 support.

@123whatever: Still its quite nice, but it isn't just the resolution of the screenshot that makes it look much better than the gameplay videos we have been seeing of the xbox one version lately.

@Lach0121: Yea those 4K screenshots do actually look really sharp, nice lighting it seems as well, but I'm pretty sure most of the footage we've seen has been from PC, so I'm still a little skeptical, they wouldn't be the first ever doctored screenshots! GTA V did the same kind of thing with all of their pre-release footage, looked way sharper in an image than in reality (especially with the original release on PS3)

I think from now on every "Minimum/Recomended System Requirements" should come with the resolution they are intended to be at and maybe, just maybe, the average fps you would get with that system.

@mk_potato: It's almost always going to be based on single screen, 1920x1080 at approximately 60fps, but not a locked in 60.

@mk_potato: Completely agree! I also have an addition to this.

As well as include the settings in game, and the average FPS. (example would be target requirements for 1080p Max, at 60 fps)

A GTX970, it should be to max it at 1080p close to 60 fps in the very least. That is no slouch card!

Here we don't know the target FPS, resolution, settings, or if its intended for single screen/multi-screen.

So are the recommended requirements for 1440p? or Are they for maxing it at 1080p? With at GTX970, I would hope its at least for maxing at 1080p... Or perhaps for multi monitor (as it says it supports it)

I have an Asus Strix GTX970, and I game at 1080p is why I am asking.

Considering they force us to use their Uplay platform even if we buy it through Steam it's good they're giving PC players respect. It's a helluva lot better then WB games.
