This maintenance period is not out of the ordinary. Ubisoft conducts regular maintenance of the servers every Thursday; this used to happen on Tuesdays.

May was a big month for The Division. The game's latest free update, 1.2/Conflict, came out at the end of month, introducing a new Incursion, more PvE content, and changes to the loot system, among other things. For more on the update, check out the full patch notes here.

The new update has not gone entirely to plan, as it's caused some characters to vanish. You can check out this GameSpot story to see even more of The Division's known issues caused by 1.2.

Looking ahead, Ubisoft will release three paid expansions for The Division (Underground, Survival, and Last Stand), though we don't know much yet about what they contain or when they'll be released.
