The Division Open Beta Coming This Month - Report

Everyone will apparently get to try Ubisoft's shooter later this month, no preorder required.

An open beta for Ubisoft's upcoming third-person shooter The Division will run February 16-21. That's according to an image reportedly posted on Xbox Italy's Facebook page. The image no longer appears to be available, but was captured by Eurogamer and can be seen below.

The image also states that Xbox One players will get a one-day headstart, as was the case with the ongoing closed multiplayer beta.

An open beta for The Division has yet to be announced, so bear in mind that this is not official at this point. We have contacted Ubisoft in an attempt to get more details and will update this post with anything we hear back.

The Division's closed multiplayer beta started January 28 on Xbox One and came to PS4 and PC a day later. It was previously scheduled to end today, February 1, but has been extended an extra 24 hours. For this beta, you needed to have preordered or obtained a code through other means.

If the open beta is indeed real, you will simply be able to hop in.

After multiple delays, The Division's full release is now scheduled for March 8. An Xbox One bundle featuring a 1 TB system and a copy of the game will be available at launch.

The game is playing wonderful on consoles, pc has some problems due to the cheating which now Ubisoft are aware of and will sort out..

Let the haters keep hateing because when the chips are down, the division is going to be one he'll of a fantastic game. Those who played the alpha and now the beta have seen how much rumours and lies were thrown around by idiots who just didn't want to see the division come to light. The game itself is very fluid, smooth running, action packed, it has lots of life to the game..

ubisoft have extended this beta by an extra 24hours because they're trying to fit everyone in, it goes to show how much interest is in Ubisoft still and the division andI'm pleased for them and the new game. Despite all haters spreading gossip because they have nothing better to do than talk crap, the division is just around the corner and it will be a success, me n my son can't wait for our sleeper agent editions...

If people didn't cheat on pc, then they would have a very good game on there hands but it seems people can not be trusted at all and its sad that pc players claim they are the best gamers out there yet at every turn cheat like mad because they can, it's ridiculous and for those that do cheat end up creating more work for developers to fix.

@xzerocarnagex: There is not hating, the game is just generic. It's simply a mashup of an RPG and Third-Person shooter in a realistic setting, nothing special. Borderlands has much more creativity in weapons and enemies due to not being restricted to realism and elements really elevated the gameplay, which made the game fun to play.

Playing The Division is like going through the motions from point A to point B without having anything new to offer. Technically, the controls and graphics are great and the RPG core elements do work, but the game fails to stand out without that "wow" factor I expect in new IP's. And don't tell me the game is great with teamwork because most other games do this just as well or even better.

@xzerocarnagex: "ubisoft have extended this beta by an extra 24hours because they're trying to fit everyone in, it goes to show how much interest is in Ubisoft still and the division"

No. It's because it took them forever to get some people their codes.

"Despite all haters spreading gossip because they have nothing better to do than talk crap"

What rumors? Elaborate.

It was a design flaw that allowed the cheating to happen, thats on the dev for cutting corners. You sound like a shill tbh.

@fedor it's not so much rumors. I think zero's referring to the hate towards this game b/c of the downgraded graphics.

To be honest, I looked at the very first trailer and compared it to what we got in the beta, and...I dunno, I could not tell the difference (probably b/c I saw the original video). What the Division lacks is color saturation, at least on the ps4...it looks a little bit bland and the color does not pop.

But outside of that, I had fun and I'm not really one to fixate graphics generally anyhow. My adage is, "as long as it doesn't look like the original Deus Ex...it's all good."

A greater percentage of PC people seem to be incessantly preoccupied with finding ways to exploit games rather than actually enjoying them like normal people.

@fedor:

I like it better than the Destiny Beta. That doesn't say much, but The Division definitely suites me better.

Never thought I'd say that about a Ubisoft AAA title on PC no less.

Wonder if it'll patch the existing Beta...or if I'll have to pull the whole damn thing down again.

This is very smart indeed. I might actually give it a try, despite my hate for Ubisoft and Uplay and the rumors of hacks on PC. Because why not, it's free, and the multiplayer looks interesting. What could possibly go wrong?

@Tiwill44: the beta will be free, if its true that they will give us open beta. Then i can try it out myself. Game on the other hand its not free. Still not sure if i should buy it. Its expensive here on consoles (standard and gold not even thinking about CE) and if the pc version (which is cheaper) is so full of cheaters and easy to hack as people say, im still not sure about it. watching streams on twitch looks fun but still not sure if worth buying.

@Tiwill44:

Aside from users modifying local files, the game is very playable on PC.

@7tizz: I didn't get to record the other one, wanted to see if it could be replicated. Appears to be a way to glitch into walls like CoD, saw at least 2 people who were inside a building and could shoot out of the building but no one could shoot in.
