As suspected, the upcoming Netflix movie based on The Division will not be directed by John Wick's David Leitch. Ubisoft clarified on Thursday that Rawson Marshall Thurber, who previously directed Skyscraper and is also helming Netflix's Red Notice, has been hired to replace Leitch.

Ubisoft also confirmed that Ellen Shanaman (The Hidden Girl) has come aboard to write the script for The Division movie alongside Thurber.

Jake Gyllenhaal and Jessica Chastain remain attached to star and produce The Division's movie, which is coming to Netflix at some point in the future.

Back in April, Leitch's wife and producing partner Kelly McCormick strongly suggested that Leitch would no longer direct The Division movie. Leitch is now completing the star-studded action movie Bullet Train.

In other news, Ubisoft announced a brand-new PC and console free-to-play game called The Division: Heartland, along with a new mobile game and a new novel. All of these projects are happening to help grow the size and appeal of the Division series, Ubisoft said.
