The Division: Here's When Next Update Arrives and a New Trailer

The Division's next update, Conflict, will debut on May 24, Ubisoft announced today. It is the second free update for the third-person shooter, following the Incursions update that arrived in April.

Conflict adds a new Incursion (The Division's raid-like activity) called Clear Sky. There will also be new gear sets, weapons, loot, and a mission that involves "[taking] down enemy leaders." Additionally, the expansion adds a new hijack feature for the extractions from the Dark Zone.

A Ubisoft blog post contains more details on the Conflict update. First, it's revealed that the Clear Sky Incursion is set in Columbus Circle. Here is the official description for it:

"Pitting Division Agents against Rikers, Clear Sky challenges you to take back a formerly LMB-controlled anti-air missile site, restore safe passage to the skies over Manhattan, and reclaim supply drops stolen by Rikers."

The Conflict update also adds "high-value targets," which you'll learn about from your base of operations.

"The HVT officer inside your base of operations will provide you with a list of these targets, along with a description, their level, and the recommended gear score you need to engage them," Ubisoft explained. "You'll have a limited amount of time and only one chance to take down these targets."

As for the new hijack feature for Dark Zone, this will allow players to cut an extraction rope, which will spill all of the loot on the ground. This new feature should make extractions "even more intense."

After Conflict, Ubisoft will release expansions called Underground, Survival and Last Stand at later dates. Unlike the first two updates, these will cost money. Ubisoft has not announced much in the way of specifics on these expansions, but we will bring you more information as it's announced.

Conflict comes to The Division through update 1.2. In addition to the content mentioned above, it will add "significant improvements" for how the game's loot system works. Specifically, the quantity and quality of end-game rewards will be tweaked.

The Division launched in March and broke sales records. It hasn't been completely smooth sailing, however, as the game has faced a number of bugs and glitches, many of which have been fixed. The developer has pledged to continue to improve the player experience in the future.
