If you've been playing The Division 2: Warlords of New York and think you've completed all the content the expansion has to offer, think again, as Ubisoft shared big news as part of its Ubisoft Forward presentation. In the game's next update, a new mode called The Summit is coming, sending agents on a deadly mission up a massive skyscraper. If you've seen The Raid, you aren't too far off. Perhaps even bigger news? The game will be backward compatible on new consoles, and there will be cross-generation multiplayer support to keep the community together.

The Summit launches on September 22, and the mode tasks your squad with climbing 100 floors of a massive high-rise building, battling deadly enemies until you reach the roof for an even tougher challenge. There are permanent checkpoints located throughout the tower called Rally Points, and you can adjust the difficulty level and receive rewards that scale accordingly.

Season 3 also contains a manhunt for Bardon Schaeffer, who is the leader of the Black Tusk group that set up shop following the conclusion of the campaign. He has four other former Division agents with him, and there is also going to be a mysterious "familiar face" appearing.

Additionally, Ubisoft has confirmed backward compatibility with The Division 2 on next-gen consoles. The Xbox Series X and Series S will both support it, as will the PS5, and you will be able to play with those on either console generation--albeit without mixing PlayStation and Xbox players.
