Following our 14-hour Destiny pre-launch livestream, we powered through the remaining couple hours and finished up the the game's main story campaign. Without going into spoiler territory, that involved traveling to the various planets of our solar system (and our moon) and fighting lots and lots of robots.
If you don't mind some spoilers, you can check out the game's final boss fight in the video above.
We finished the story at level 16, however we didn't do any Bounties, which can accelerate the leveling progress. At our fairly quick pace, spending very little time on the extra Vanguard and Strike Quests, getting through the main story took just over 16 hours to complete.
However, that doesn't mean the game is over, and we still have a lot of content left to explore, including:
- Finding Hidden Raids (stay tuned for more details)
- Running Strike Missions in The Vanguard to level up your Vanguard reputation and earn Vanguard Marks to get new weapons/gear/emblems/etc.
- Playing competitive multiplayer missions in the Crucible to level up your Crucible reputation and earn Crucible Marks to get new weapons/gear/emblems/etc.
- Earning gear/weapons/emblems by aligning with the game's different factions (Future War Cult, The New Monarchy, etc.)
- Leveling up each of the games three classes
We're still working on our own review, though you can read our initial impressions of Destiny here.
Activision has said that they expect Destiny to be around for an "awful long time," but what do you think of the game so far? We'll continue exploring the end-game content to find out how long it keeps us engaged, but let us know your thoughts in the comments below.
