Demon Slayer is one of the biggest anime around right now, and Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba The Movie: Mugen Train hit at just the right time to break some records for anime. The film pulled in $470 million at the global box office in 2020, making it the top-earning movie for the year worldwide--the first non-Hollywood, non-U.S. picture to accomplish such a feat. The film scored another $49 million at the United States box office when it hit U.S. theaters in April 2021.

This is a noteworthy record for an anime film, though with theaters devoid of American movies and Demon Slayer at the top of its popularity, the timing was perfect for the film to perform well at theaters.

In addition to the movie, the Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba series' Unwavering Resolve arc is now available in both subtitled and dubbed forms for the above-mentioned languages.

Demon Slayer follows protagonist Tanjiro, whose sister has been turned into a demon, forcing him to search for a cure for her. The movie sets Tanjiro and his allies, along with a powerful swordsman named Flame Hashira Kyojuro Rengoku, on an investigation into the disappearance of 40 people aboard the titular Mugen Train.

Both the Mugen Train film and Unwavering Resolve arc are available on Crunchyroll right now.
