The pilot for the upcoming live-action Powerpuff Girls pilot on the CW has found its stars. Chloe Bennet (Agents of SHIELD), Dove Cameron (Descendants), and Yana Perrault (Broadway's "Jagged Little Pill") have been cast according Variety.

The live-action series will follow the superheroes as they are now in their 20s and resent giving up their entire childhood in order to fight crime. The trio will have to reunite once again in order to save the world. Perrault will play Buttercup, Bennet will play Blossom, and Cameron will play Bubbles.

The characters have changed a bit since they were children. Blossom is now reclusive, after her anxiety of fighting crime left her with some trauma. Bubbles is desperate to get back into the spotlight again and become famous, and she has become a bit more witty. And Buttercup has spent time trying to avoid the spotlight, shed her old persona, and become anonymous.

The CW's Powerpuff Girls show pilot was greenlit in February and has been in development since last summer. [Update: The Powerpuff Girls pilot will be redone due to concerns about how campy it was.] Diablo Cody (Juno) is developing the show along with Heather Regnier (Sleepy Hollow). There is no guarantee that the CW will order this to series, though.

The original Powerpuff Girls animated series aired on Cartoon Network between 1998 and 2005. It was created by Craig McCracken, and the series even got its own feature-length movie in 2002. In 2016, the show was rebooted for Cartoon Network, and there have been three seasons so far.
